Flux Charger Plus Review

The Best Portable Charger Review

Don’t you just hate it when you get that low battery warning comes up on your smartphone? We all love our smartphones but they do consume a lot of battery power very quickly. If you are on the go and don’t have access to a wall outlet to charge your phone then what do you do? Most people cannot be without their phones for very long.

This is where a portable charger is worth its weight in gold. You can give your phone, or any other electronic device that is chargeable by USB, a well-needed boost, In fact with many portable chargers you can fully charge your phone pretty quickly. It is a very useful thing to carry around with you wherever you are.

What you need to know about Portable Chargers

The charging ability of a portable charger is dependent on two things:

  1. The capacity of the portable charger in milliampere hours (mAh)
  2. The battery capacity of the device that you want to charge (also mAh)

So, for example, the battery capacity of the new iPhone X is around 2,716 mAh while the battery capacity of the new Samsung S9 is around 3,000 mAh. If you have a larger device such as a tablet then the batteries tend to be larger. The battery capacity of the iPad 9.7 is around 8,800 mAh.

The charging capacity of a portable charger is very important. The higher the capacity the more you will pay for your portable charger. Chargers are never 100% efficient, so always go for a portable charger with more capacity than the battery in your device. We recommend that the capacity of your device batter should not be more than 70% of your charger’s capability.

Portable chargers have a USB output port so you will need the appropriate cable handy to charge your device. The other important thing to bear in mind with portable chargers is their size and weight. If you want really high charging capacity then the charger is going to be pretty big and not so convenient to carry around with you.

If you are going to be away from an electrical outlet for a while then you need to work out how many times you will need to charge your phone while you are away. Maybe you are going on a long flight and need your device to be available for several hours.

You will need a portable charger that has the capacity to charge your device more than once. To give you some idea here most modern smartphones will last between 7 and 13 hours when fully charged. The iPhone 7 will last just over 7 hours while the Samsung Galaxy S8+ will keep going for around 13 hours.

Portable chargers usually come in three different sizes. You can get a small pocket-sized charger that may not have the capacity to fully charge your phone but can give it a good boost. Then there are the convenient size chargers that will fully charge and at the top end are the large chargers for those long trips.

We will take a look at those convenient portable chargers that will charge a phone at least once in this review. These have a range of capacities from 10,000 mAh to over 50,000 mAh and are still small enough to conveniently carry around.

The Verdict

We highly recommend the Flux Charger Plus 10,000 mAh portable charger. It has a good capacity (enough for most situations) and the charging performance is excellent. The style of this charger is nice too and it is very convenient to carry around. And what’s not to like about the price?

If you really feel that you need more power then the RAVPower 26,800 mAh is a good choice. The iMuto X6 is a nice portable charger with high capacity too at a reasonable price. Solar power charging of the portable pack seems like a good idea but in reality, it wasn’t very practical.
